Music

Tabla was the first musical instrument that I learned to play. Years later, I picked up guitar during my undergrad which I continued throughout my Ph.D. I met many like-minded fellow Ph.D. researchers who helped me learn how to record music and mix audio, that’s when we collaborated to record covers of some of our favorite songs. From time to time I also picked up other musical instruments like ukulele, bass and flute, but I mostly stayed with my guitar. I currently own an electric PRS SE Standard 24 and an acoustic Takamine GD11MCE-NS guitars.

Here is one of my favorite covers (from May 2018), Benighted from the album Still Life (1999) by Opeth (a Swedish progressive metal band), with Yuri Murillo on vocals, electric guitar, cajón, keyboards, audio mixing, and me on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, tabla, video editing.

Here is our another cover (from Jan 2017) of the song Hope Leaves from the album Damnation (2003) by Opeth (you can safely say that we love Opeth).

A solo instrumental cover (from May 2018) of Into The Wild (2007) by Eddie Vedder. This song was also a track of the movie Into the Wild (a very nice film, based on the book by the same name, by Jon Krakauer).

Finally another (solo) Opeth cover (from May 2017) of the song Dirge for November from the album Blackwater Park (2001).
